Expiration Date: May 09, 2024
Course Objectives
After completing this activity the learner will:
• discriminate advantages and disadvantages particular to ultrasound imaging of tendons when contrasted with features of other imaging techniques
• extrapolate the significance of tendon findings from epidemiologic data referenced in the text
• supervise a tendon ultrasound examination by selecting the proper equipment and the proper set of ultrasound imaging parameters
• recall the anatomy pertinent to ultrasound pathology recognition
• discriminate between individual pieces of macroscopic and microscopic anatomy of fibrous and fibro-cartilaginous tendon entheses pertinent to ultrasound given a diagram, an ultrasound image or key terms of anatomy
• distinguish the different anatomy of tendons with and without tendon sheath covering given a diagram, an ultrasound image or key terms of anatomy
• explain the physiology of tendons that can be observed through ultrasound
• recognize common artifacts that affect tendon imaging by ultrasound in order to be able to appraise their significance in daily practice
• differentiate ultrasound characteristics of frequently encountered pathologies in tendons
• outline the role for ultrasound guided needle treatment of tendon disease
• integrate patient data and imaging results of other imaging tests in the ultrasound assessment of tendons
• prepare for the musculoskeletal ultrasound registry examination
