Pediatric patients can experience significant impairments to their quality of life, mental development, self-esteem, and physical limitations affecting their ability to engage with peers. The effects of AD can also negatively impact caregivers, so pharmacist involvement in the management of pediatric patients with AD should include counseling for caregivers. Expert panelists will discuss a variety of over-the-counter creams and moisturizers, topical prescription agents, emerging biologics, and other medication classes to equip pharmacists to navigate the options for supportive care and treatment of AD. This activity will also feature counseling videos highlighting novel administration considerations of emerging therapies and the central role of pharmacists in demonstrating proper administration to patients and caregivers as well as counseling on adherence.,Educational Objectives:,At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:,• Discover the pathogenesis of moderate to severe pediatric atopic dermatitis (AD), the psychosocial impact of the disease, and treatment challenges impacting the quality of life for both patients and caregivers,• Examine updated guideline-directed pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatments for pediatric patients with moderate to severe AD,• Analyze efficacy and safety data, novel mechanisms of action, and routes of administration associated with recently approved and emerging agents for the treatment of moderate to severe pediatric AD,• Customize counseling pearls for patients and caregivers based on individualized treatment plans to improve adherence to new and emerging therapies among pediatric patients with AD
