2-hour On-Demand: Asthma, Allergies & Eczema On-Demand

2-hour On-Demand: Asthma, Allergies & Eczema On-Demand is organized by CE International.
Expiration Date: 2-1-24
Course Description & Information:
Together, Asthma, Allergic Rhinitis and Eczema (also known as Atopic Dermatitis) make up what is known as the Atopic Triad. These conditions have in common that they are driven by Type-I Hypersensitivity (IgE antibody-mediated) reactions. This presentation explores the common and distinctive pathophysiological characteristics of the three conditions, the major immune components involved, and the rationale for current treatment methods. Newer therapeutic approaches will also be addressed.
Course Objectives:
- Define “Atopy”, and “atopic diseases”, and describe their commonalities and differences.
- Identify the major immune system components involved in atopic diseases.
- Compare the general approaches for altering the negative effects of the major immune system components.
- Identify and discuss current treatments for atopic diseases and relate those treatments to the general disease processes hey are designed to address.
- Summarize more recently developed targeted treatment approaches for atopic diseases and describe their general mechanisms of action.
- Project future changes in atopic disease treatment that should improve disease outcomes.
Learning Outcome: At least 80% of class participants will score 70% or greater on course post-test.
