Goal:
This activity will review the fundamentals of HIV and AIDS, including the modes of transmission, pathophysiology, HIV testing, prevention, and the updated recommendations for treating and monitoring patients.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
• Indicate the modes of transmission for HIV
• Identify who should receive HIV testing and the differences between HIV tests
• Explain the treatment options and monitoring parameters for HIV-infected patients
• Recognize the tools used for the prevention of HIV
