The Evolving Treatment Landscape for Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH): A Review for Specialty Pharmacists is organized by Pharmacy Times Continuing Education (PTCE).,Release date: May 10, 2022,Expiration date: May 10, 2023,Description:,Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a rare, progressive disease that is frequently misdiagnosed due to underrecognition among healthcare professionals. With specific knowledge about symptoms and comorbidities associated with CTEPH, pharmacists can be essential in assisting in its identification by referring patients to CTEPH specialists and recommending they receive appropriate screening and diagnostic tests. Until 2013, there were no medications approved specifically for the treatment and management of CTEPH. However, several medication classes are under investigation for use in patients with CTEPH, and pharmacists involved in the treatment and management of these patients must be familiar with the safety and efficacy data of these agents if approved. As medication experts, pharmacists must be familiar with REMS program requirements for adverse effects and drug interactions associated with CTEPH therapies. This program will also review the role of the pharmacist on the multidisciplinary team in providing specific counseling strategies to promote patient adherence to therapy.,Educational Objectives:,At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:,• Examine the pathogenesis, prevalence, clinical presentation, risk factors, and impact of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) on patient health-related quality of life,• Analyze the efficacy and safety data associated with emerging and available therapies for CTEPH,• Investigate the mechanisms of action, dosing, administration, monitoring parameters, and potential adverse effects of current and emerging CTEPH therapies,• Illustrate the role of the pharmacist in managing patients with CTEPH on a multidisciplinary team
