Course Overview:
This course will enable registered Nurses, Midwives and AHPs to effectively supervise pre-registration students in clinical placement.
The course is suitable for Nurses, Midwives and AHPs who are responsible for the supervision and assessment of pre-registration students in practice based learning.

• The importance of valuing the student workforce
• Introduction to the NMC Standards of Student Supervision and Assessment
• Introduction to the HCPC Standards for Education and Training
• The roles and responsibilities of Practice Supervisors/Assessors and Practice
• Educators Creating a learning environment and learning opportunities for students
• Objective setting
• Assessing practice-based learning
• Giving effective feedback
• Escalating concerns about students
• Supporting students to escalate concerns whilst on placement
Course Aims and Outcomes:
• Understand the NMC triple SSA standards and how to apply them
• Understand the HCPC standards and how to apply them

• Be able to set objectives for their learners
• Understand the principles of assessment
