Simulating Telehealth in Dental Education: Practical Lessons
Simulating Telehealth in Dental Education: Practical Lessons is organized by American Dental Education Association (ADEA).
Description:
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, teledentistry was primarily used in rural communities to bridge geographic barriers and provide expanded access to some form of oral health care management. However, after experiencing the impact of this recent pandemic, the promise of teledentistry has been widely accepted and is now seen as an essential tool for the modern dental practice. With this seismic shift, the need to incorporate teledentistry into dental curriculum becomes more critical, especially if our graduates are to be effective and successful in its practice
Learning Objectives:
• Define teledentistry.
• Describe how a teledentistry rotation was designed and implemented using a virtual clinical curriculum at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston.
• Identify benefits and challenges of incorporating teledentistry into dental education.
Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
