Pharmacy technicians have important supportive care roles in assisting patients to identify triggers and working with the pharmacist to set patient goals for symptom management. In some patients, exacerbation of an allergy can result in medical emergencies, and pharmacy technicians should be aware of the potential for these life-threatening reactions as well as how to prevent them with pharmacologic or nonpharmacologic treatment approaches.
