Recorded Presentation from the NCCN Pharmacy Updates: Updates in Older Adult Oncology is organized by National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and will be held from Dec 22, 2022 - Dec 22, 2023.,,Description:,Clinical trials with patients over 60 or 65 are rare, and extrapolated conclusions from underpowered studies may not provide the best options for older adults. Ideally, all cancers would have trials designed to test various chemotherapy regimens and doses in those over the age of 65. Clinicians must be trained to use assessment tools and stay abreast of the trial data that are available to improve morbidity and mortality in those over 60 or 65. Pharmacists have the opportunity now to improve treatment outcomes and communication between patient and provider, so the patient receives the best care for their situation and goals.,,Learning Objectives:,Following this activity, participants should be able to:,• Describe the current landscape of older adult oncology and the future changes needed to better serve this population.,• Review how the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) and other assessment tools can help determine treatment decisions, how pharmacists manage side effects in older adults, and how pharmacists can help patients avoid polypharmacy pitfalls. ,• Apply clinical trial data pertaining to older adults.,,Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
