Overview:
The Perinatal Institute of Cincinnati Children’s, will host its annual NeoFest conference on March 11, 2022, entitled, “Enduring Consequences Associated with Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia.” The virtual, day-long conference will focus on cardiopulmonary and neurodevelopmental outcomes of extremely preterm infants with a diagnosis of bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Invited guest speakers will include Dr. Kara Goss from the University of Texas Southwestern, Dr. Cindy McEvoy from Oregon Health and Science University, Dr. Sara DeMauro from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Dr. Neil Marlow from the University College London.
Objectives:
• Describe the clinically-evident early and long-term cardiopulmonary and neurodevelopmental consequences associated with extremely preterm birth informed by longitudinal cohort studies
• Recognize how perinatal lung injury and bronchopulmonary dysplasia influences future cardiopulmonary function and neurodevelopment
• Identify the need for a comprehensive team approach to life-long care of children and adults formerly born extremely prematurely to optimize cardiopulmonary health and neurodevelopment.
