On the Frontiers, Front Lines, and Fringes of PrEP for HIV Prevention is organized by Pharmacy Times Continuing Education (PTCE),Release date: September 29, 2022,Expiration date: September 29, 2023,Description:,The US Preventive Services Task Force issued a grade A recommendation in 2019 to make preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) available to individuals at risk of acquiring HIV. The 2021 CDC guidelines for PrEP outline the importance of selecting an optimal regimen as well as the need to provide education, adherence counseling, and monitoring of individuals taking PrEP. Three PrEP options are currently available, and most recently, an injectable formulation has become available. Investigational PrEP agents include additional injectable therapies, topical gels, vaginal rings and films, subdermal implants, patches, and inserts. Each of these methods has unique efficacy and safety considerations as well as administration and monitoring parameters that need to be understood to individualize and optimize care. This activity will provide a comparison of the available PrEP regimens, allowing managed care professionals to understand the most recent CDC guidelines and emerging options for HIV prevention.,Educational Objectives:,At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:,• Compare safety and efficacy data of currently available preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) regimens,• Examine recent updates to the CDC guidelines for PrEP,• Identify emerging therapeutic options and strategies for PrEP
