Needs Statement:
Elder abuse in the form of forced compliance with daily cares such as bathing and dressing, catheterization, or neglect in the form of failure to achieve hygiene or manage incontinence in aged persons with dementia in residential care facilities is a major problem for CNFs today.
Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:
• Describe and diagnose common causes of continence disorders.
• Discuss alternatives to catheterization and medical needs for such interventions.
• Demonstrate skills in the management of daily hygiene in aged persons with dementia.
