Start: 11 Jun 2019
End: 08 Jun 2029
Credits: 4 hour of continuing education
Description:
This 4-hour webinar is presented in two parts: Part one will focus on delineating recent trends in describing the Autism Spectrum Disorder from early conceptual development of what Leo Kanner described as Infantile Autism. Part two will focus on a case study of treating Infantile Autism with music therapy, including actual video footage of a real case. This production was authorized by the biological parents of this 2-year-old child. They authorized this production to assist licensed professional counselors to help in the identification, diagnoses and specialized treatment of autism spectrum disorder. In addition to this 2-hour this introductory webinar, you will have the opportunity to observe 2-hours of genuinely effective therapeutic techniques pioneered by Norman E Hoffman, PhD. The demonstration you will see was the logical result of original investigations in the field of Music Therapy. In the words of clinical psychologist Dr. Robert K. Alsofrom, "After observing therapeutic techniques come and go for twenty- five year, I look upon works which claim to break new ground with a great deal of reservation. Most of them turn out to be rediscoveries of the wheel under a new name. In comparison, Dr. Hoffman does indeed present a new and genuinely effective therapeutic vehicle."
Learning Objectives:
• Develop an understanding of their intrapsychic world
• Differentiate between Infantile Autism and the Autism Spectrum Disorder
