PrEP persistence, or sustaining PrEP use over time, has become a critical challenge in PrEP implementation. There are many challenges to optimizing the use of PrEP among at-risk individuals, and pharmacists in community settings can help overcome these barriers. This activity will provide a review of the current state of HIV PrEP in the United States and current options for PrEP, with a review of the newest long-acting agent and other emerging therapies. Pharmacist strategies to improve access and persistence with PrEP will also be presented.,Educational Objectives:,At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:,• Explain the clinical burden of HIV as well as current challenges and barriers in the optimization of preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP),• Explore current and emerging options for PrEP and the differences in safety, administration, and efficacy for optimal outcomes,• Identify strategies for pharmacists to increase awareness of PrEP, identify appropriate individuals at risk for HIV, and address barriers and challenges that people face
