Lecture Overview:
Factitious disorder imposed on another (Munchausen's by proxy) is a rare mental health condition that sees a person use deceptive behaviours to transfer false physical illness and injury onto another, usually a dependent. In this session, Dr Karen-Ann Clarke explores several high-profile cases, in which the disorder has led to severe cases of child abuse, recognising that FDIA - though a complex mental illness - should also be viewed through a child protection lens.
