Objectives:
As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to:
• Identify a case example highlighting disparate outcomes by race in the emergency psychiatry setting;
• Discuss the existing evidence demonstrating racial disparities in emergency psychiatric care;
• Describe the association between the Black race and triage decisions and restraint use in the emergency psychiatry setting;
• Describe the role of systemic and personal bias in health disparities, specifically as relates to patient care in the emergency psychiatry setting.
