Live Event Date: Jul 11, 2023
Expiration Date: May 31, 2024
Description:
Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a severe eating disorder with extreme weight loss. Although anorexia nervosa has well-defined symptoms, the condition can manifest in various ways and looks very different in each person who struggles with this eating disorder (ED). Anorexia nervosa will be investigated in detail during this webinar, including its signs and symptoms, diagnostic criteria, impacts, treatment techniques, and nutritional guidance for those suffering from this eating disorder. There will be a discussion on various aspects of severe and ongoing anorexia nervosa (SEAN). Case studies will be investigated to provide extra details and assist in applying what has been taught in the classroom setting. This webinar aims to educate dietitians with varying degrees of experience with eating disorders (EDs) by expanding the knowledge of those just beginning their education on EDs and AN and providing more in-depth information to those already working in the field of ED practice.
Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be better able to:
- Analyze the diagnostic criteria for anorexia nervosa and recognize its various forms.
- Identify the difference between severe and enduring anorexia nervosa (SEAN) and other eating disorders (EDs).
- Learn how to treat AN and how nutrition counseling can help.
- Determine how SEAN should be treated differently.
