Description:
This course provides a comprehensive guide to dysrhythmias commonly manifested by imaging patients. The content begins with a brief overview of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and electrophysiology; continues with a description of leads, lead placements, and waveforms for analysis; and concludes with a description of essential ECG rhythms and ECG strips that describes the needed identification criterion.
Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
• Describe the anatomical structures and functions of the heart.
• Explore the process of electrical conduction in the heart.
• Recall the properties of cardiac depolarization and repolarization.
• Describe the relationship of each ECG waveform to the electrical events in the heart.
• Apply correct waveform measurement, rate calculation, and analysis techniques for interpreting an ECG strip.
• Describe correct lead placement.
• Describe the origin and components of sinus rhythms.
• Identify the origin and characteristics of atrial rhythms.
• Identify the origin and characteristics of junctional rhythms.
• Identify the origin and characteristics of heart blocks.
• Identify the origin and characteristics of ventricular rhythms.
