Course Description:
Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is an ultra-rare disease with grave outcomes if left untreated. This program will address the etiologies and pathogenesis of aHUS, along with current diagnostic approaches. The most current research and guidelines for treatment will also be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
• Describe the etiologies and pathogenesis of aHUS, as well as its distinction from other TMAs
• Discuss the diagnostic pathway for aHUS, including clinical evaluation, laboratory assessments, clinically identified triggers, timely real-time clinical diagnosis and implications of genetic testing
• Identify current research findings, practice guidelines, and treatment options for aHUS
