Description:
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is associated with many behavioral, social, and psychological problems such as school failure, family problems, social difficulties, depression, and anxiety. Previously, it was thought that most children with ADHD would “outgrow” many of the associated problems. However, many continue to have difficulties with inattention and impulsivity into their adult years.
Goal and Learning Outcomes:
The goal of this course is to educate certified medical assistants, nurses, physician assistants, and physicians in acute care facilities about ADHD and its management.
After taking this course, you should be able to:
• Name three main characteristics and diagnostic criteria of ADHD.
• Describe medication treatments available for ADHD.
• Identify non-pharmacological treatment options for ADHD.
