Since 1980, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Health and Human Services (HHS) have released and continue to update the dietary guidelines every 5 years. The 2020-2025 guidelines were much anticipated as for the first time it includes recommendations for 0 to 24 months and for pregnancy and lactation. In this webinar, we will review the history of the dietary guidelines, the newest additions and modifications made to these latest guidelines. In addition, the presenter will discuss ways practitioners can help clients more closely adhere to these nutrition recommendations.

Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:
• Understand the process of how the dietary guidelines are created.
• Explain the current 2020-2025 dietary guidelines and any modifications/additions made to them.
• Communicate healthful eating messages to patients or clients based on the dietary guidelines and MyPlate.
