Course Description:
This program is the sixth in a series of 10 modules included in the Anesthesia Assistant Training Program (AATP). In addition to a review of both pediatric and geriatric patients, commonly encountered disease states will be introduced, including diabetes, thyroid disease, obesity, substance abuse, and eating disorders. This course is only available as part of the Anesthesia Assistant Training Program and cannot be purchased individually.
Course Objectives:
• Explain anatomic and physiologic differences in young and old patients
• Define diabetes and discuss its relevance to office-based anesthesia/sedation
• Discuss the clinical significance of obesity
• Identify anesthetic risk factors associated with substance abuse and eating disorders
