Release: Mar 18, 2021
Expires: Mar 17, 2024
Target Audience:
Physicians, Health Administrators, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and Public Health Professionals
Description:
Many organizations are on the journey to implement and enhance the roles of the PC RN. This journey is filled with both barriers and facilitators. There is a lack of understanding of other roles on the care team, which contributes to a lack of understanding of the PC RN role. Successful implementation of the PC RN roles requires good collaboration between clinical practice partners who are on this journey of role implementation and academic institutions who are incrementally changing their training to meet the needs of front line primary care institutions hiring new graduate nurses into this role - but how do we as clinical organizations begin or enhance our implementation of this role?
Objectives:
Upon completion of this education activity, participants will be able to:
• Describe the implementation of the expanded role of the registered nurse in primary care.
• Identify barriers to implementation and strategies to address the barriers.
