Bias in healthcare and the lack of health equity has gained much-needed attention throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. This course discusses how bias in pharmacy education could affect patient care, and what you can do to impact health equity in your pharmacy practice.
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this application-based course, participants should be able to:
• Compare and contrast implicit and explicit bias
• Discuss the impact of bias on health outcomes and clinical care
• Interpret the results of a study on the effects of bias on the clinical behaviors of pharmacy students
• Develop conclusions from a study on bias and clinical behaviors of pharmacy students
• Create a strategy to address inequalities by increasing awareness of personal bias
