SIU - School of Dental Medicine is organized by Continuing Education, Inc. and will be held from Jul 20 - 27, 2024 at Holland America's Eurodam, Seattle, Washington, United States of America.
Program Purpose:
"Embracing the Future: Revolutionizing Dentistry Through Digital Workflows" Participants will learn about the transformative impact of technology on dental practices. The lecture will highlight how digital tools, such as intraoral scanners, 3D printers, and CAD/CAM systems, streamline processes, improve accuracy, and enhance patient experiences, ultimately leading to more efficient and effective dental treatments.
Course Objectives:
• Understand the fundamental concepts of digital workflows in dentistry and their impact on clinical practice.
• Explore the latest advancements in intraoral scanning technology and learn how to effectively integrate it into the dental workflow.
• Gain insights into the benefits of 3D printing and its applications in dentistry, including the fabrication of surgical guides, dental models, and prosthetics.
• Discover the potential of CAD/CAM systems in streamlining restorative procedures, from digital impression-taking to the precise fabrication of crowns, bridges, and veneers.
• Understand the importance of incorporating digital workflows to improve patient experience, including faster treatment turnaround times and reduced chairside visits.
Course Objectives:
• Learn the different types of sleep-disordered breathing, with a concentration on obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and snoring.
• Be aware of the prevalence of OSA in the adult population.
• Understand how to screen your patients for OSA.
• Know what to look for in your patient's medical, dental, and social history that can be putting your patient at risk for OSA.
• Understand health risks and co-morbidities associated with OSA.
• Learn the basics of sleep staging and physiology.
• Understand basic concepts related to different types of sleep studies and what they measure.
• Discuss the basics of treatment for OSA, including surgery, PAP therapy, and Oral Appliance Therapy, including their relative advantages and disadvantages.
• Learn the basics of Oral Appliance Therapy, when it can be used and its limitations and strengths.
• Discuss some of the side effects of Oral Appliance Therapy and how to manage them.
