Rural Emergency Skills Training (REST) is organized by Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and will be held from Oct 26 - 27, 2024 at Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.
Description:
REST covers many of the common emergencies that are likely to present in the pre-hospital, small rural hospital and private rural practice environment. The aim of this course is to teach a structured approach to the initial resuscitation and stabilisation of patients presenting with life-threatening conditions and to enhance the practical skills required for managing emergencies in the rural context.
The Course is facilitated by Rural Generalists with experience in Emergency Medicine, for Rural Generalists.
Participants complete approximately 12 hours of self-directed online learning, followed by two hands-on workshop days. You’ll leave with skills in basic life support, along with more advanced skills and techniques to assist with managing life-threatening injuries and conditions.
Learning objective:
This course will improve your ability to respond to medical emergencies in alignment with the Rural Generalist Core Curriculum Domain 4:? Respond to Medical Emergencies:?hospital & prehospital, resource organisation, initial assessment and triage, emergency medical intervention and patient evacuation.
