Strategies to support retention and success should include all educators involved in the academic process. When faculty and key team members take ownership, learners benefit from consistency across the curriculum. Learning activities, study habits, and attitudes that emphasize self-awareness and promote problem solving, empower learners to not only succeed in school but in their profession as well. Simple strategies to help students develop the critical thinking habits needed for success will be discussed and demonstrated.
Objectives:
• Develop a learning activity that will promote self-awareness in the student.
• Identify successful learning strategies that can be used in all classes, labs, and clinicals across the curriculum.
• Examine strategies that provide early indicators of students at risk of academic failure.
