Nurses are taught from the beginning of their careers to anticipate and prepare for anything that comes their way, including adverse drug events (ADEs). These common events cause thousands of injuries and deaths each year in the U.S. Nurses play a significant role in recognizing, documenting, and preventing these events.
Goal and Learning Outcomes:
The goal of this course is to educate RNs in the acute care setting on tools for minimizing risks associated with adverse drug events.
After taking this course, you should be able to:
• Recognize the characteristics of adverse drug events and adverse drug reactions.
• Identify signs and symptoms commonly associated with adverse drug events.
• Determine methods for the prevention of adverse drug events.
