Description:
Helping the student develop as a professional nurse requires an instructional design that promotes growth in clinical judgment. The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Project offers faculty a framework to that end. Using the six competency domains, we will consider relevant learning activities across the curriculum. We will explore assumptions, active learning strategies and assessments that promote growth in the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of the nurse in today's healthcare industry.
Objectives:
• Explore assumptions that faculty have about the learning environment.
• Identify key strategies to effectively and efficiently use QSEN in the nursing curriculum.
• Use QSEN as a framework for designing learning activities that promote student engagement and development of clinical judgment.
• Develop assessments that measure clinical judgment knowledge, skills, and attitudes required of the professional nurse.
