Establishing a vision for a comprehensive periodontal policy that is embraced by the entire team can transform routine hygiene services to value added experiences of Personalized Periodontal Medicine. This two-day course is designed to be a transformational course and workshop for the hygienist, any hygiene assistants, and even the dentist who is serious about advancing the periodontal and overall health of their patients, the health of their team and the health of their practice. Learn how saliva testing is an important factor in diagnostic data gathering for treatment considerations as well as patient education and disease monitoring. A thorough understanding of the oral systemic link, the key diagnostic components in data gathering, staging and grading for simplified communication, understanding the complexity of the host immunoinflammatory response, treatment plan options and how to personalize maintenance are all key features of the course.
Featuring a series of case studies, you will see that practicing this way is 21st century periodontal care. An implementation tool kit with forms and documents to create a systematic process, including a series of patient educational materials, is provided as part of the course. On the second day, in a workshop setting, the entire process is revisited and reinforced with a series of hands-on exercises that guide the entire process. Utilizing a comprehensive approach, and adding organized structure, you can radically transform your practice and demonstrate to your patients your true concern for their overall wellness.
Course Objectives:
• Increase the awareness of the significance of periodontal disease, what it means to overall health, and how to enhance patient and team discussions for increased treatment acceptance.
• Establish a vision for an office-wide periodontal policy that provides structure, aligns values, and a disease management approach that can be followed by the entire team.
• Learn the key features of early disease detection.
• Learn the 5 diagnostic keys and how they are collected and processed.
• Learn treatment planning, with treatment protocols that work, and the process to take an active diseased patient to periodontal stability.
• Discuss the use of clinical adjuncts to control inflammation and the rate of clinical attachment loss.
• Learn how to help your patients maintain periodontal stability, year after year, and use metrics to reinforce their efforts.
• Learn the key features of the periodontal maintenance process, how to set ideal recare frequency, and the methods to convert more patients to periodontal maintenance for their increased overall health and increased practice revenue.
• Provide language and communication techniques to explain to patients their own “periodontal story” and provide a method for an optional written report at the new patient exam.
• Reveal implementation challenges in leading a new periodontal standard of care.
• Reinforce the above objectives in a series of workshop exercises on day 2 of the course.
