Goal:
To provide health care professionals with an evidence-based update of pharmacotherapy for the treatment of and primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease in the ambulatory care setting.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this program, participants should be better able to:
• APPLY recommendations from the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association guidelines and new evidence related to pharmacotherapy for primary and secondary prevention patients with hypertension or dyslipidemia
• USE findings from recent literature regarding the use of antithrombotic therapy for the prevention of cardiovascular disease
• INTERPRET findings from cardiovascular outcomes data evaluating the use of glycemic-lowering medications to the treatment of patients with and without type 2 diabetes
• CREATE evidence-based pharmacotherapy treatment regimens for ambulatory patients that reduce risk of cardiovascular disease
