
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider Course
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider Course is organized by Cantonal Hospital St.Gallen / Kantonsspital St.Gallen and will be held from Aug 29 - 30, 2024 at REA2000 – Center for Resuscitation and Simulation Training, St Gallen, Sankt Gallen, Switzerland.
The following is included in the PALS course:
• Break meals and lunch
• PALS Provider Manual
• PALS Handbook
• American Heart Association Fees
Goal:
After successfully completing this course, you should be able to independently take the following actions when faced with a seriously ill or injured child:
Cognitive course objectives:
• Describe the timely recognition and measures necessary to prevent respiratory and cardiac arrest in pediatric patients
• Describe the systematic approach to pediatric assessment using first impression, primary and secondary examination, and diagnostic testing
• Describe priorities and specific interventions for infants and children with respiratory and/or circulatory emergencies
• Explain the importance of effective teamwork, including the roles and responsibilities of individual team members in pediatric resuscitation
• Describe the main points of treatment after resuscitation
Psychomotor course objectives:
• Perform effective, high-quality CPR when necessary
• Effective ventilation management within your area of ??activity
• Selection and use of appropriate cardiopulmonary monitoring
• Selection and administration of appropriate medications and electrotherapy in cases of arrhythmias
• Effective communication and teamwork as both a team member and team leader
Content
• Applying a systematic approach to assessing the child
• Applying the Assess-Recognize-Intervention Sequence
• Use of PALS algorithms and flowcharts
• Implementing effective teamwork during resuscitation
• Recognizing and treating medical conditions in children who are at risk for cardiac arrest
