The self-paced course discusses the history of opioid use in medicine and the Ohio guidelines for prescribing opioids. The presentation also reviews OARRS, non-pharmacologic and non-opioid pain treatment options, addiction and substance use disorders, and more!
Learning Objectives:
• Review the history of opioid use in medicine
• Understand calculation of MEDs
• Review the Ohio Guidelines for opiate prescribing (from the Governor's Opiate Action Team)
• Discuss non-pharmacologic and non-opioid pain treatment options
• Review OARRS (Ohio Automated Rx Reporting System)
• Learn the physiology of opiates and NSAIDs
• Understand addiction and substance use disorders and treatment options
