Nutrition and the Microbiome: Starting to Debug the Evidence for Clinical Application is organized by Dietitian Central.,,Live Event Date: Aug 04, 2020,Expiration Date: Aug 04, 2023,,Overview:,The Human Microbiome Project states, "The human body contains trillions of microorganisms — outnumbering human cells by 10 to 1. Because of their small size, however, microorganisms make up only about 1 to 3 percent of the body's mass, but play a vital role in human health." Join Registered Dietitians, Rebecca Jaspan, and Laura Cipullo as they streamline the overabundance of information from the Human Microbiome Project and other microbiome research. Registered dietitians will gain knowledge to apply in clinical nutrition practice whether working with children or adults with symptoms consistent with irritable bowel syndrome, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and or diabetes. A range of materials will be covered including the very basics of the microbiome, its effect on wellness and disease, and dietary implications. Adapt Rebecca and Laura’s probiotic cheat sheet for an easy client handout.,,Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to:,• Define the gut microbiome.,• Explain three or more factors that affect the gut microbiome.,• Identify the three most common bacteria found in the gut microbiome.,• Identify the relationship between the gut microbiome and health and chronic disease.,• Identify dietary factors that contribute to a healthier microbiome.
