Overview:
Endodontic Surgery has evolved tremendously in the last decade, into a microsurgical procedure. Due to advancements in dental materials and surgical techniques, surgical micro-endodontics has a higher degree of success and greater predictable outcomes. However, there are specific cases, for which surgical endodontics is not a replacement for conventional retreatment.
This presentation will review the relevant literature, which evaluates prognosis of microsurgical retreatment and conventional retreatment. This will make the decision making process a further informed one.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to achieve the following:
• Understand the biological and technical reasons for failure of initial root canal therapy.
• Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of conventional and surgical retreatment.
• Learn advanced perforation repair techniques.
• Learn the advantages of 3-D imaging CBCT in Endodontic treatment planning.
• Interpret the evidence and, based on the evidence, feel confident in presenting the treatment options to patients during treatment planning.
