Next Level Endodontics: Access Preparation

Next Level Endodontics: Access Preparation is organized by Dentaltown, L.L.C.
Released: 06/01/2016
Expiration Date: 06/30/2025
Overview:
Endodontic access cavity preparation is arguably the most important phase of nonsurgical root canal treatment. A well designed access preparation is essential for predictable, consistent, and efficient endodontics. In order to achieve successful endodontic outcomes as much of the inflamed or infected pulp complex should be removed as is possible. Proper execution of access cavity preparation affords biologic based treatment to be accomplished.
Strategies and techniques will be discussed that address routine as well as complex access situations. Errors in access cavity preparation will hamper attainment of optimal endodontic results. Common access errors are presented to demonstrate that with proper planning and use of current technologies these can be avoided or at least limited.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to achieve the following:
• Discuss the importance of straight-line access.
• Understand the value for removing caries or restorations during access preparation.
• Describe the rationale and technique for removing restrictive dentin or dentin shelf during access preparations.
• Identify common errors made during access preparation.
• Describe strategies and techniques for locating difficult canals.
