This course will highlight recent enhancements made to Iowa's Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP). Specific topics include a brief introduction to the communications module and pro-active or threshold reports, as well as a review of Narx Care--an advanced opioid use disorder management platform designed to provide prescribers and pharmacists with insights into patient prescription fill histories and behaviors. Additionally, a summary of HF2377, commonly referred to as the "opioid bill," and its continued impact on clinical practice in the state of Iowa is discussed.,,Objectives:,Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:,• Outline updates and enhancements made to the Iowa Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) in 2019 and 2020.,• Describe features of the Communications Module available through the Iowa PMP.,• Analyze a patient's Narx Score (overdose risk factor).,• Identify factors that contribute to a patient's Narx Score.,• List the changes to rules and legislation in 2019-2020 surrounding the PMP and explain the impact on the healthcare community and your practice.,,Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
