Activity Summary:
With the expansion of informed consent treatment models and increased acceptance and visibility of gender diversity, there is an increasing need for providers who are able to competently provide gender-affirming services. However, most formal education curriculums do not provide the knowledge necessary for providers to obtain confidence in the management of the gender-diverse patient. This session provides foundational information on the medical management of gender dysphoria. Pharmacology content = 50%.
Objectives:
• Define gender dysphoria and non-conformity and identify treatment models for the management of gender dysphoria.
• Identify therapeutic options for the management of gender dysphoria and gender-diverse patients.
• List medications commonly prescribed for treatment/management of gender dysphoria and indications for use.
