Migraine is a common yet complex neurological disease that causes debilitating symptoms and diminishes quality of life for patients. In recent years, the pathophysiology of migraine has been better understood leading to development of new drugs for both prevention and treatment that target inflammatory mediators and steps in the signaling cascade. While newer therapies are available, migraine often remains undiagnosed and undertreated. In this activity, a faculty expert will delve into the current state of migraine management including a review of the pathophysiology of migraines and treatment goals, with a focus on new and emerging therapies for the prevention and treatment of migraines.
