Light Curing in Dentistry - A Brief History and Update is organized by Viva Learning™ LLC.,Release Date: 10/30/2013,Reviewed: 2020,Expiration Date: 10/30/2023,Credits: 1 CEU,Description:,Since the late 1990s there has been a revolution in light curing in dentistry. Light emitting diode curing units (LED LCUs) are replacing quartz-tungsten halogen light curing units (QTH LCUs). In addition to single LED wavelength LED LCUs, there has been an introduction of LED LCUs comprising LEDs with different wavelengths within the same LCU to cater for composites with multiple photoinitiators. This webinar will briefly chart how light curing has evolved to the present and compare LED LCUs with QTH LCUs. It will describe the main types of designs of LED LCUs and the basic physics involved so the clinician may decide on the most appropriate LCU for their practice. Recent developments in LED LCUs will be discussed and how manufacturers have improved on their earlier designs.,Upon completion of this CE webinar, the student will be able to: Understand how light curing has evolved until the present. Understand how light is produced in LED LCUs and how this differs from QTH LCUs. Know the advantages and limitations of curing using different LED LCUs. Be aware of factors to consider when choosing a new LED LCU for their practice.,Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
