Advancements in targeted gene therapy have given patients with cystic fibrosis a longer life expectancy. Take this course to learn about these advancements, supportive medication therapies, and opportunities to provide care to patients with CF.
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
• Explain the pathophysiology of cystic fibrosis (CF) and the various organ systems impacted
• Recognize medications commonly associated with CF and indication for use
• Identify medications for symptom management and targeted gene therapies
• Identify opportunities for pharmacists to intervene and enhance care in the inpatient and outpatient pharmacy setting
• Assess the pharmacoeconomics and socioeconomic impact of the disease
