Ischemic stroke constitutes about 87% of all strokes. This activity gives fundamental information to aid in stroke diagnosis and treatment to healthcare professionals across the entire spectrum of emergency health care, including to primary care physicians and nurses, who can educate at-risk patients and their family members; Emergency Medical Services providers and emergency department nurses, who need tools for evaluating possible stroke victims; and emergency physicians, who may want to review stroke diagnosis and treatment as well as learn about new developments in stroke treatment.,,Learning Outcomes/Objectives:,Upon completion, participants should be able to:,• Describe ways to educate patients about stroke symptoms and how to respond to them.,• Describe clinical tools for assessing ischemic stroke when presented with typical and atypical stroke symptoms.,• Explain intravenous thrombolysis methods including how they work, how they are administered, useful timeframes, and contraindications.,• Explain endovascular (mechanical) thrombectomy techniques and their appropriate uses.,• Describe new developments in stroke treatment.
