Course goal:
- The goal of the of this course is to prepare participants to
- competently perform basic laparoscopic surgery independently.
Participant learning objectives:
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:
- Correctly identify the instruments used in laparoscopy
- Differentiate unipolar/bipolar energy sources
- Describe the dynamic anatomy of the abdominal wall and female abdomen/pelvis
- List the indications, contraindications and complications of laparoscopy
- List the relevant history taking, physical examination and investigations needed for preoperative preparation of a patient for laparoscopy
- List the essential steps of postoperative care and management of minor postoperative complaints
- Properly write a laparoscopy report
- Check the instruments before starting the procedure
- Perform diagnostic laparoscopy
- Perform tubal Sterilization
- Needle aspiration of small ovarian cysts
- Laparoscopic ovarian drilling for PCOS
- Ovarian biopsy
- Deal with ectopic pregnancy
Course prerequisites:
- Resident / assistant lecturer/specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology.
Instructor: DR. TAMER AHMED HOSNY
- Dr. Tamer A.Hosny was born in 1980 in Egypt, He studied medicine at Alexandria University, Egypt and graduated in 2003. He is a Associate prof. at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Alexandria University.
- In 2013, he was awarded the European Inter-University Diploma of Advanced Operative Laparoscopy by the University of Auvergne, France.
- In 2014, he got his MD study in Reproductive Surgery.
- Also he get a fellowship in CHU ESTAING, Clermont Ferrand, France.
- At 2016 he awarded GESEA Diploma (Bachelor Degree) special interests lie in the field of MIS in Gynecology.
- At 2017 awarded GESEA Diploma (MIS).
- Member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE)
- Member of the American Association of Gynecological Endoscopy (AAGL)
- Member of the Minimal Invasive Society of Endoscopy Egypt. MISSE-Egy
