About This Course:
This module aims to highlight the short-term and long-term impact of viral hepatitis, identify risk factors, and explore modes of transmission. This module covers implementing health promotion and health restoration activities to reduce the transmission of hepatitis and promote healing for infected individuals.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this module, the participants should be able to:
• Compare and contrast the five major types of viral hepatitis.
• Describe the modes of transmission for the major types of hepatitis.
• List the symptoms commonly seen in the prodromal, icterus, and recovery stages of hepatitis.
• Discuss the vaccines that are currently available for the various types of hepatitis.
• Explain the use of interferon and various types of antiviral medications in the treatment of hepatitis.
• Identify at least three nursing roles related to acute or chronic hepatitis either in prevention, promotion, or restoration.
