Grief Counseling Primer Course 2024

Grief Counseling Primer is organized by Core Wellness LLC and will be held on Oct 18, 2024.
Course Description:
Grieving can be a lonely and sad place. COVID-19 has changed the landscape of the standard skills that therapists must possess. Clinicians often struggle with supporting clients who are experiencing the grieving and mourning process. One important aspect of managing grief is understanding, with sensitivity and balance, how to help your clients when they are stuck in an unhealthy mental and emotional state. Your training and skills can greatly impact their lives and empower them to understand, process and work through the many important aspects and stages of grief counseling.
This training will explore the different types of grief and provide insight on how COVID-19 is causing acute grief for many people. Participants will learn about current therapeutic approaches for conceptualizing grief and interventions to confidently support clients as they learn to manage and live alongside their grief. While in the past, grief counseling was a specialty for those who pursued it, COVID-19 has made grief counseling a necessary skill for clinicians. This workshop will empower and guide you in providing a framework for understanding and effectively helping clients manage their grief.
Learning Objectives:
Upon the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
• Describe acute grief and differentiate the different types of grief.
• Identify 3 grief models and their techniques for conceptualizing and supporting grief.
• Demonstrate 5 effective interventions for grief counseling to better care for clients.
