Course Overview / Description
Understanding GME funding is critical to successful residency program design and
management. This will provide a comprehensive overview for faculty and program directors
who can use this knowledge to better plan appropriate curricular opportunities for the
residents to take care of patients.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to:
• Describe the common terms needed for an understanding of GME funding.
• Analyze curriculum decisions that have financial impact such as elective rotations, faculty teaching time and conference attendance requirements.
• Discuss sources of additional funding to support residency programs and resident training.
