Release Date: June 1, 2022
Planned Expiration Date: June 1, 2025
Description:
Evaluating poor performance in experiential learners is one of the most difficult challenges a preceptor faces. Unfortunately, this “failure to fail” phenomenon is common in nearly all health professions. This course uses a published framework to discuss why preceptors struggle to assess poor performance and provides strategies to overcome barriers to appropriately evaluate underperforming learners.
Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacy preceptors should be able to:
• Identify six common barriers to providing accurate assessments of learners who are underperforming
• Describe three enabler strategies that help overcome barriers identified
• Analyze selected case studies in order to create strategies for accurate assessment
• Identify sources of support when working with an underperforming pharmacy learner
Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
