Description:
This Expert Illustrations and CommentariesTM is a video-based program in which 2 experts discuss the dynamic clinical landscape in patients with lower-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (LR-MDS). In this activity, the faculty focus on the unmet needs in LR-MDS and the rationale for targeting emerging oncogenic pathways in clinical trials. Their discussion is enriched with the use of video animations to illustrate novel mechanisms of action of emerging agents. The use of these animated segments helps make somewhat complicated subject matter more understandable. This unique format is designed to help clinicians identify best practices in the diagnosis and management of LR-MDS and to improve outcomes for their patients with this disease.
Learning Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:
• Determine unmet clinical needs related to the management of LR-MDS
• Illustrate emerging mechanistic approaches under investigation for their application to bridge clinical gaps in LR-MDS treatment
• Explain efficacy and safety findings from trials that evaluated novel strategies for LR-MDS in the context outcomes related to transfusion burden, durability of response, and overall disease outcomes.
