Description:
The course is designed to facilitate care to high-risk indicated patients who have experienced an acute myocardial infarction (AMI) to ensure quality outcomes in the management of cardiogenic shock.
Learning Objectives:
• Recognize the necessity for Baptist Health’s standardization of treatment for the cardiogenic shock (CGS) patient based on current, evidence-based practices.
• Implement CGS protocols and power plans consistently in the Emergency Department, Cardiac Catheterization Lab and acute care settings.
• Utilize contemporary management practices for CGS as explained in the scientific statement by the American Heart Association, with the primary objectives being circulatory support, ventricular support and coronary perfusion.
• Identify alternative treatment options for CGS patients given the associated high mortality.
• Monitor quality measures associated with treatment and care of CGS patients.
