Equity and Health Care Disparities: The Role of Leaders in Addressing the Crisis

Equity and Health Care Disparities: The Role of Leaders in Addressing the Crisis is organized by CME Outfitters, LLC.
Course Start Date: Tuesday, December 28, 2021
Course Expiration Date: Saturday, December 28, 2024
Statement of Need:
Racism is a public health crisis, and health systems play a critical role in addressing social determinants of health (SDoH) and healthcare provider (HCP) biases to further health equity. All levels of the health system, HCPs and staff from the C-suite to the front desk "gate-keepers", must be aware of and understand the impacts of structural racism, SDoH, and biases on their patient population. Taking these factors into consideration, improving diversity among health systems staff and management, and championing diversity and inclusion are some of the strategies needed to mitigate healthcare disparities and help make communities healthier.
This CMEOCast podcast will focus on the role of health systems in addressing structural racism and clinician/staff biases and how health systems administrators can integrate best practices to support patients and reduce disparities in care.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this CME/CE activity, participants should be able to:
• Outline the role of health systems in addressing structural racism and clinician biases to promote health equity.
• Integrate best practices for health administrators to support patients and reduce disparities in care.
